Goal

When winning the ball, attack quickly forward and get to the finish with two players.

Description

A 30x15 m pitch with one goal and a goalkeeper (two pitches fit in 30x20). One player dribbles towards a pair defending the halfway line. If the pair win the ball, they break on a 2v1 counter-attack towards goal against the player who lost it, who has to get back and defend. The player who wins the ball dribbles fast and his team-mate spreads wide to the touchline and arrives at the far post. If the dribbler gets past the line without losing the ball, he shoots alone against the goalkeeper. It teaches that when you win the ball you must attack quickly and arrive with two.

Step by step

  1. 1

1 dribbles towards the pair defending the line.

  2. 2

A steps out and wins the ball from him.

  3. 3

A dribbles fast towards goal while B spreads wide to the touchline and arrives at the far post.

    1. 3.1 A dribbles.
    2. 3.2 B spreads wide and arrives.
  4. 4

    A passes to B.

  5. 5

B finishes at the far post.

How to correct: Set off dribbling towards goal the moment you win it.

  • Both go together down the middle.

How to correct: The team-mate spreads wide to the touchline so the defender can't cover both.

Questions for the players

  • “When we win it, where do we run?”
  • “Who carries the ball and who arrives?”
