Goal

Bring heart rates down and mobilise the whole body gently.

Description

A cool-down told as a story. Each child has their own spot in a 20x15 m space. The coach tells the story of a seed that grows into a tree and everyone acts it out at the same time: seed (curled up in a ball on the floor), roots (sitting, legs apart and arms reaching to the feet), trunk (standing, twisting at the waist), branches (big circles with the arms), wind (rocking on one leg and then the other) and fruit (on tiptoe, reaching for a high apple). It gently mobilises every joint and brings heart rates down.

Step by step

  1. 1

Seed: curled up in a ball on the floor.

  2. 2

Roots: sitting, legs apart and arms reaching to the feet.

  3. 3

Trunk: standing, twist at the waist to one side and then the other.

  4. 4

Branches: big circles with the arms.

  5. 5

Wind: rock on one leg and then on the other.

  6. 6

Fruit: on tiptoe, stretch up to pick a high apple.

  7. 7

Finish: roll the ball around the body.

Rules

Each child stays in their spot, without moving from it. Follow the coach's story. At each part, the coach says “make it up” and each child creates their own movement. Finish by rolling the ball around the body.
