Goal

Open up the pitch and use the wings to attack.

Description

A 4v4 match on a 20x15 m pitch with a small goal at each end, divided into three channels: left, centre and right. To be able to score, the ball must first go through a wing channel, and when we attack there must be at least one player in each wing channel. It helps children learn to spread out and use the full width of the pitch instead of bunching up in the middle.

Step by step

  1. 1

Number 1 opens to the wing for number 2, who is in the top channel.

  2. 2

Number 2 dribbles forward along the channel.

  3. 3

Number 2 plays it into the middle for number 4.

  4. 4

    Number 4 shoots.

Rules

A goal only counts if the ball has gone through a wing channel. When attacking, at least one player in each wing channel. Periods of 4 minutes.

Common mistakes

  • Everyone attacks through the middle and loses the ball.

How to correct: Remind them the ball has to go through the wing: look for the player who is wide.

  • The winger drifts inside without the ball.

How to correct: Stay wide until the pass arrives.

Questions for the players

If you have fewer or more players

  • With 2 fewer: 3v3 with just one compulsory wing channel. (3v3)
  • With 1 more: A joker on each wing who plays with the attacking team. (4v4+1)
  • With odd numbers: The extra player acts as a joker on one wing.

  • Free wings. In the wing channels you can't defend: easier to open up play.
