Timed three-station technical circuit: passing wheel for three, oriented control between cones and double wall passes with the central player
Linkalde exercise
How it works
- Who starts
- A, with the ball at station 1; D at station 2 and H at station 3.
- Who takes part
- Three groups of three or four players, one at each station.
- What the ball does
- Station 1: A to B, B to C, C to A. Station 2: D to F between cones, F controls sideways and returns to E. Station 3: H wall pass with I and pass to J, who plays a wall pass with I.
- How to score
- No score; each group counts its errors in its time.
- When it ends
- Each station lasts five or six minutes.
- How it restarts
- When the ball goes out, the group puts it back from its own starting position.
- How players rotate
- Each group moves to the next station in the direction of the arrows in the drawing.

Goal
Improve the firm pass, oriented control and wall passes at a continuous pace, with changes of position that force players to look and talk to teammates.
Description
Three stations in 54 x 36 m, worked at the same time by three groups that rotate on time, five to six minutes each, with an active rest of one to two minutes between stations. Station 1: passing wheel in a triangle with three players, A, B and C. Station 2: two groups of two, 10 m apart, with a gate of two cones in front of each; the ball is passed between the gates and the receiver controls sideways. Station 3: three players with H, J on the sides and I in the centre, who plays two wall passes in a row. When time is up, each group moves to the next station.
Step by step
- 1
Station 1: A passes in the air to B, who is at the top.
- 2
Station 1: B passes along the ground to C, bottom right.
- 3
Station 1: C returns to A and each player goes to the receiver's spot.
- 4
Station 2: D passes to F between the two cones of the other group.
- 5
Station 2: F controls with one foot, orienting it to one side.
- 6
Station 2: F passes between the cones of the first group to E.
- 7
Station 3: H passes to I, who is in the centre, and H runs into the space.
- 8
Station 3: I returns first time into H's space.
- 9
Station 3: H passes to J, on the other side.
- 10
Station 3: J passes to I and runs into the space.
- 11
Station 3: I returns first time into J's space.
Rules
One ball per station. Passes are one or two touches. At station 2 the pass must go through both gates, and at station 3 the wall passes are one touch. After each pass, each player goes to the receiver's spot; each group's errors are recorded.
Equipment
- 3 balls
- 4 cones for the gates
- Cones to mark the stations
- Bibs

Rotation and restart
When time is up, each group moves to the next station in the direction of the arrows: from station 1 to 2, from 2 to 3 and from 3 to 1.
Coaching points
- Firm pass to the feet with the inside of the foot.
- Control and orient the ball to the free side.
- Talk: call who receives and from where.
- Look before receiving to decide in one touch.
Common mistakes
The pass comes at medium height and the teammate does not control it.
How to correct: Look at the standing foot and strike with the inside, along the ground.
The control stays in front of the body and cannot be returned.
How to correct: Orient the control to the free side on the first touch.
The player in the middle returns to the feet and kills the movement.
How to correct: Return into the space, towards the side of the teammate's run.
Questions for the players
- “Which foot do you use to control outwards when the pass arrives on your left?”
- “How do you call that you will return into the space?”
Levels
- A · easyTwo touches and short distances between players.
- B · standardAs described.
- C · advancedOne touch throughout the circuit and the distance extended by a third.
If you have fewer or more players
- With 6 fewer: Two stations with two groups and one passing station less. (Two-station passing circuit)
- With more: A fourth player is added to each station and the group goes through the positions. (Three-station circuit, five players)
- With odd numbers: The extra player waits at station 3 behind J and comes in when the turn changes.
Age
Variations
- With a second ball. Each station uses two balls at once, in opposite directions.
- Weaker leg only. At station 2, control and return are made with the weaker leg.
