How it works
- Who starts
- In each rondo, a red attacker with a ball. In the drawing, B in the square on the right.
- Who takes part
- Two rondos of 4 reds against 2 blues and, in the square below, 4 yellows waiting with 2 balls.
- What the ball does
- B passes to C. C tries to pass to the other side of the square, but a blue defender cuts across and intercepts the pass.
- How to score
- Every 10 passes in a row is a point for the attackers; every steal is a point for the defenders.
- When it ends
- The rondo doesn't stop: every steal changes the defenders.
- How it restarts
- Those who won it stay and the new rondo starts in the free square as soon as the two runners arrive.
- How players rotate
- C, who lost the ball, and B, who passed before him, run to the free square below and defend there. The two blues who won it stay in their square with the other two reds.

Goal
Keep possession in the rondo and train the reaction after losing the ball with repeated short-distance sprints.
Description
Three 9x9 m squares about 15 m apart. In two of them a 4v2 rondo is played; in the third, four players with no opponents do ball skills with two balls while they wait. When the defenders win the ball in a rondo, the player who lost it and the team-mate who passed to him before sprint to the free square and defend there against the four who were waiting. The two who won the ball stay in their square with the other two attackers, and it becomes the free square. The rondo never stops and every loss forces a 15 m sprint.
Step by step
- 1
B passes to C.
- 2
C tries to pass to the other side and a blue defender intercepts the pass.
Rules
Rondo with two touches. When the ball is won, the two who last touched it before losing it run to the free square. If a ball goes out of the square, it counts as lost by the last player to touch it. In the free square you must do keepy-ups, directional controls or juggling until the defenders arrive.
Equipment
- 12 cones for the three squares
- 4 balls
- Bibs in 3 colours

Rotation and restart
After each turnover, the player who loses the ball and the one who passed to him before run to the free square as the new defenders. Those who won it stay as attackers in their square, which becomes the free square.
Coaching points
- Attackers: open body and the ball on the foot away from the defender.
- When you lose it, sprint off: the ones waiting are already ready.
- Defenders: one cuts out the pass inside and the other presses.
Common mistakes
Those who lose it jog to the other square.
How to correct: Those in the free square can start counting passes as soon as it's lost: if they arrive late, they're already losing.
Those in the free square just stand waiting.
How to correct: Give a specific task: 20 touches per pair or directional controls.
Arguments about who has to run.
How to correct: A clear rule from the start: the one who loses it and the one who passed before him.
Questions for the players
- “What do you do in the first second after losing the ball?”
- “Where do you stand so your team-mate always has an easy pass?”
Levels
- A · easyFree touches and 10x10 m squares.
- B · standardTwo touches, 9x9 m squares, as described.
- C · advancedOne touch, 8x8 m squares and squares further apart (20 m).
If you have fewer or more players
- With 8 fewer: Two squares: one 4v2 rondo and a free square with two players. (1 rondo 4v2 + 2 free)
- With more: 5v2 rondos and five players in the free square. (2 rondos 5v2 + 5 free)
- With odd numbers: A joker in the free square who also attacks in the new rondo.
Age
Variations
- With dribbling. Those who run to the free square take the ball they won with them, dribbling.
- Double loss. If the defenders win it twice in a row in the same square, the whole square sprints off.
