Goal

Strike accurately: standing leg beside the ball and eyes on the target.

Description

Stations of 10x6 m for two pairs (two fit in a 10x10 square). At the far end of each side, a small goal with a disc and a soft ball on top: that's the target. Each pair, with one ball per child, shoots from behind their line to knock down the target on the other side. If yours is knocked down, one of you runs to set it up again. For the youngest: accuracy, standing leg and carrying on playing after the shot.

Step by step

  1. 1

Red 1 shoots at the blue target and knocks it down.

  2. 2

Blue 2 runs to set it up again.

  3. 3

Blue 1 shoots at the red target.

Rules

You always shoot from behind your own line. Target knocked down, 1 point. The team whose target is hit puts it back. Balls that end up in the middle zone are collected when nobody is shooting.

Coaching points

  • Look at the target before you shoot.
  • Standing foot beside the ball.
  • Shoot and go for another ball.

Common mistakes

  • Shooting with the toe and hard.

How to correct: With the inside of the foot and gently: here accuracy wins.

  • Stepping on the line to shoot from closer.

How to correct: Always from behind the line: otherwise the point doesn't count.

Questions for the players

  • “Where do you put the foot that doesn't strike?”
  • “Which part of the foot do you aim best with?”

Levels

  • A · easyBig target (two discs and two balls) and lines closer.
  • B · standardAs described.
  • C · advancedLines further away or shooting with the weaker foot.

If you have fewer or more players

  • With 2 fewer: 1 v 1 at the station.
  • With 2 more: Threes on each side. (3v3 (target))
  • With odd numbers: A three against a pair with one more ball.

Variations

  • Two targets. Two discs per side: knocking down both wins the round.
  • With control. The ball that comes from the other side is controlled and shot without stopping it.
