How it works
- Who starts
- Attacker A, with the ball, from the middle of the pitch.
- Who takes part
- Two attackers (A and B), one defender (D), the goalkeeper and the next ones in the queue.
- What the ball does
- A dribbles towards the defender, passes to B when the defender comes close, and B shoots from the finishing zone.
- How to score
- Goal by the player who arrives in the finishing zone: 2; goal by the dribbler: 1.
- When it ends
- With the shot, if the defender wins the ball or if the ball goes out.
- How it restarts
- The next pair sets off from the middle.
- How players rotate
- The pair goes to defend and the defender goes to the back of the queue to attack.

Goal
Draw the defender with the ball and have the team-mate arrive in the finishing zone.
Description
Two 25x10 m pitches side by side, each with a goal and a goalkeeper. A pair sets off dribbling from the middle against a defender who starts from the end line. The player on the ball draws the defender and passes; the team-mate without the ball has to run into the finishing zone, marked 6 m from the goal, to shoot. A goal by the player who arrives is worth 2 and one by the dribbler, 1. It teaches how to draw a defender, pass and arrive to finish, like the winger who arrives at the far post in 7-a-side.
Step by step
- 1
A dribbles towards the defender to draw him in, while B runs towards the finishing zone.
- 1.1 A dribbles.
- 1.2 B sets off.
- 2
When the defender comes out at A, A passes to B.
- 3
B shoots from the finishing zone.
Rules
Goal by the player who arrives in the finishing zone: 2 points. Goal by the dribbler: 1 point. The defender sets off from the end line when the pair starts. Every 3 minutes switch sides so you shoot with both feet.

Rotation and restart
After each attack, the pair (A and B) pick up the ball and go to defend; the defender goes to the back of the queue and joins the next attack. The goalkeeper changes every 3 minutes.
Coaching points
- Dribble at the defender to draw him in.
- The team-mate runs into the finishing zone, doesn't stand and watch.
- Quick shot, low and placed.
Common mistakes
The dribbler goes alone and never passes.
How to correct: If the defender comes at you, your team-mate is free.
The team-mate stays back waiting.
How to correct: Run to the finishing zone from the first metre.
Questions for the players
- “Does the defender come to me or do I go to him?”
- “Where do I need to be to get the pass?”
Levels
- A · easyPassive defender (arms behind) and finishing zone at 4 m.
- B · standardAs described.
- C · advancedActive defender from the start and the goal only counts first time.
If you have fewer or more players
- With 2 fewer: Just one pitch, and the goalkeeper rotates too. (2v1+GK)
- With 4 more: A third identical pitch, or threes attacking 3v2. (3v2+GK)
- With odd numbers: The spare player waits as a joker and joins the next attack.
Age
Variations
- First-time finish. The goal by the player who arrives only counts if he shoots first time.
- From the wing. Start from the touchline: the player who arrives goes to the far post.
