Possession 4v4 in 15 x 15 m: five passes in a row score and the ball cannot go back to the player who passed it
Linkalde exercise
How it works
- Who starts
- A1, blue, with the ball in a corner; the other three blues spread along the edge and the four reds in the middle.
- Who takes part
- Four blues and four reds.
- What the ball does
- The blues pass the ball without returning it to the one who passed; if a red wins it, the red team starts counting.
- How to score
- One point for each series of five passes in a row by the same team.
- When it ends
- After three minutes of each set, the team with the most points wins.
- How it restarts
- After a steal or the ball going out, the team that did not have it restarts and starts counting again.
- How players rotate
- Every three minutes A4 and R4 swap teams.

Goal
Keep the ball in a small space by moving to offer passing lanes, communicate and pass short and safe.
Description
A 15 m square with four cones in the corners. Four blues play against four reds with a single ball. The blue team starts with the ball and must pass it around without the opponents winning it. Each time they make five passes in a row, they score a point and say it out loud. The ball cannot go back to the teammate who has just passed it, so the receiver has to look for someone else. If the reds win the ball or it goes out of the square, roles are swapped and the reds start counting their passes.
Step by step
- 1
A1 passes to A2 along the bottom side and R1 goes out to close the passing lane.
- 2
A2 passes to A3, who shows on the right, and R2 moves in on him.
- 3
A3 passes to A4 along the top and R3 runs towards A4 to press him.
- 4
A4 tries to pass to A1 but R4 gets there first and cuts out the pass: the ball changes team.
- 5
Every three minutes A4 and R4 swap teams.
Rules
One ball only. Passes count only if they are between teammates and do not go back to the one who has just passed. The ball cannot leave the square. Defenders cannot grab or push. If the ball goes out, the team opposite to the last one to touch it restarts with a kick.
Equipment

Rotation and restart
Roles are swapped: every three minutes one child from each team swaps with one from the other team (A4 with R4), so everyone plays with everyone.
Coaching points
- Move to show for the ball, don't wait standing still.
- Pass short and play the ball to feet.
- Call out loud who you are going to pass to.
Common mistakes
Everyone bunches up in one corner.
How to correct: Ask each child to take a different area of the square and move away from the ball.
Long, hard passes that go out.
How to correct: Ask for short passes to feet, with the inside of the foot.
Questions for the players
- “Where do you stand so your teammate can see you?”
- “What do you do if you have an opponent in front of you?”
Levels
- A · easySix players in total (three v three) or an 18 m square and three passes are enough for the point.
- B · standardFour v four in 15 x 15 m with five passes in a row for the point.
- C · advancedA 12 m square, two touches per child and seven passes for the point.
If you have fewer or more players
- With 6 fewer: With six children it is played three v three in a 12 m square. (Possession three v three)
- With 10 more: With ten children, five v five in 18 x 18 m. (Possession five v five)
- With odd numbers: The extra child is a wildcard: always plays with the team that has the ball.
Age
Variations
- With wildcards. Two children of another colour always play with the team that has the ball, so it is played six v four.
- Four passes with left and right foot. The passes for the point alternate between the right foot and the left foot.
